Night noodle markets + Queen Victoria markets | Melbourne through my eyes…

There are fewer things that excite me more than good food, friends and lots of laughs. Saturday night in Melbourne all three things came to the party. By some stroke of pure genius we caught the last night of the Night Noodle Markets (and met Peggy’s lovely and very photogenic friends Ben and Kieu) and even though our bellies were still full from the late lunch we had with Emiko only an hour before, a hot bowl of vegetarian pho was most definitely consumed by the end of the night. The vibe of the place was electric with music playing, kids everywhere and hoards of hungry people lining up to get their Asian food fix. I could have happily spent every night there sampling the goods on offer, but the people watching was pretty awesome too…

It was a little bit of a tease as we knew we couldn’t take much back with us to W.A, but our last morning was spent strolling the Queen Victoria markets, camera’s in hand naturally. You local Melbournites don’t know how lucky you are, I felt like I’d died and gone to food heaven! I would happily move to Melbourne just so I could do my shopping here, if it was up to me! As I was taking photos of the beautiful bunches of carrots I heard a man behind me say to his wife “why take photos of carrots?”. I ignored him, but what I really wanted to say is “why not?”. Such beautiful produce deserves to be celebrated, no? I’ve gotta say too, I’ve totally found my people (thanks Peggy and Sash!), who new there were other people out there who just like me, don’t even bat an eyelid at stopping every 5 metres to take another photo… Melbourne, you were unreal xx

P.S I’ll have a new recipe up early next week, for those of you who may be wondering…

Beautiful pics Emm. I lived in Melbourne for a stint (in Fitzroy, did you go to Brunswick Street?) and used to catch 3 trams and travel for an 45 minutes each week just to do my weekly shop at the Vic Markets. The best food markets I have ever been too! Lucky you πŸ™‚

Awesome eh?! Wish I had tried some and just crossed my fingers the mascarpone didn't hurt my gut, I think it would have been worth it. I loved meeting you too Heidi, you were one of the first Aussie bloggers I found, all those years ago xx

No we sadly ran out of time to do much more than the central city itself. I spent a few days in St Kilda years ago though and loved it.
