Sweet New Zealand
When I first started this blog I really struggled to find fellow kiwi (NZ) food bloggers to connect with. There was even a tiny moment there when I wondered if I was the only one! Ha, how very naive of me. While it's true food blogging in New Zealand is still relatively new compared to countries like the U.S (when I told my friends I was starting a food blog most of them looked at me and asked what's a blog?), things have come along in great leaps and bounds over the past year or so with more and more New Zealanders becoming hooked into this amazing online world devoted purely to food!
Not only do we now have a NZ food bloggers association, one successful food bloggers conference under our belts (well, not mine, sadly I was in the wrong country at the time!), but we also have a monthly blogging event, Sweet New Zealand run by the talented blogger, mother, gardener and cookbook author, Alessandra Zecchini. You may have noticed this badge below under some of my posts and I'm proud to say I've been part of Sweet NZ every month since it began July last year! It's a fantastic way to meet and mingle with my fellow kiwi bloggers, check out what delicious sweet treats people are creating (you know I love everything sweet!) and in turn help to grow this wonderful world of New Zealand food bloggers. After a great turn out for February's event, this month I have the pleasure of hosting Sweet NZ. It's really simple to be part of and I hope you'll join me, it's open to all bloggers living in New Zealand and kiwis living overseas, like me.
1 This blogging event is open to all bloggers living in New Zealand and Kiwis living and/or blogging overseas. This is not a competition and there are no prizes or winners: it is just a way for Kiwi bloggers to connect and share recipes.
2 You can take part with anything sweet: cakes, fruit salads, biscuits, slices, desserts, ice creams, drinks…You can write a new recipe or send the link for an old recipe, up to you. Multiple entries are also accepted and welcomed.
3 Make sure your entry contains the phrase Sweet New Zealand, the banner (choose your own size, just right click on my badge above and download the image to your computer), a link to the host (my homepage), and to this post (so please update your old posts, if necessary).
4 Send your entry to me at emma(at)mydarlinglemonthyme(dot)com by the 28th of March (New Zealand time) and please include...
• Your Name
• Your Blog Name and URL
• Your Post URL (and name of the recipe if it isn’t in the post title)
• A photo (not too large)
I will post a round up of all the entries at the end of the month and look forward to seeing all that you create! Feel free to email or leave a comment below if you have any further questions.
Yum, let the sweetness begin! xx Emm
P.S Your entires don't need to be gluten-free, just so you know. But extra brownie points in my eyes if they are! ;-)

DeleteHi Emma. I am new to blogging here in Nz. I have been enjoying posting now for nearly a year now. Unfortunately I am not much of a baker but I am into gluten free cooking as my son has coeliacs. I know he would love me to try some of your amazing recipes. I will make it a priority and I will let you know how I get on.
ReplyDeleteAwesome Erin! If you want to be part of Sweet NZ, but aren't keen on baking you can also submit; drinks, fruit desserts, etc... anything 'sweet'! Look forward to hearing from you xx
DeleteBelieve it or not, my oven has died and stopped giving out heat. Will have to give it some thought....will come up with something though...
ReplyDeleteOh no! No stress, there's always next month if you don't quite make this one :-) xx
DeleteThanks Emma! I'm pretty new to the Sweet NZ bandwagon but I actually never knew about the NZ Food Bloggers Association! (Just joined now) I hope there's another food bloggers conference this year!!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure there will be, keep up to date with Allison from http://peasepudding.wordpress.com/ and you'll be the first to know if there is! Or follow the NZ Bloggers Association on facebook/twitter for updates too.
DeleteBrilliant. Count me in!!
ReplyDeleteWould love to join in from London.
Awesome, I look forward to receiving your entry :-)
DeleteHi Emm! I'm on the no-sugar bandwagon at the moment (even fruit for a little wjile) but will look forward to living vicariously through you girls x
